OHB Hellas, which is a subsidiary company of the German multinational technology group based in Germany, starts its operation in Greece.
The strategic decision of the company is the capstone of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in December 2017 by the Greek State, the General Secretariat of Telecommunications & Post, Mr. Vasilis Maglaras and the member of the Board of Directors of the OHB SE German company, Mr. Fritz Merkle.
OHB Hellas starts its operation from its offices in Marousi and has already its first employees.
Regarding OHB Hellas’ operations in the Greek market, the Managing Director of the company, Dr. Katerina Panopoulou, said: “The creation of OHB Hellas will generate an opportunity for the young motivated Greek engineers to work in the space industry in Greece. It intends to contribute to the return in our country of highly educated Greek scientists and engineers, who are working abroad. The challenge for us all is exciting. It is our responsibility that OHB Hellas becomes one of the centers of expertise in Europe concerning space technology. Our target is to make OHB Hellas the next OHB success story in establishing a sustainable and growing company.”
Dr. Lutz Bertling, board member of OHB SE, declared: “With the establishment of OHB Hellas, we are taking a logical step in further developing our Group activities and strengthening our position as one of the leading independent forces in the European space, aeronautics and telematics industry. OHB Hellas’ mission is not only to support important future Greek programs as system integrator but as well to act as a competence center for OHB Group.”
The OHB SE based in Bremen, Germany, operates in the manufacture of space technology and industrial products, employing more than 2,500 employees.
